Queenswood

Shepherd's Way, Brookmans Park, Hatfield, Hertfordshire AL9 6NS

An all-round, academically strong school which is particularly well known for Music, Drama, Dance, Art and Sport. The school is known for its exceptional pastoral care and happy, purposeful atmosphere. The ‘Queenswood Qualities’ of creativity and resourcefulness, courage and resilience, curiosity and reflectiveness underpin every aspect of the girls’ education.

Head's Welcome

I am privileged to be Principal of this wonderful school and I am passionate about educating girls in a positive, supportive and challenging environment. Queenswoodians achieve extraordinary academic results; their curiosity is never constrained by the curriculum and they flourish in all they do. Most importantly, Queenswood girls are happy – and happy girls are successful girls.

For more than 125 years, Queenswood has delivered a truly progressive education in the most idyllic of environments. Set in 120 acres of beautiful Hertfordshire countryside – just 20 minutes by fast train from Central London, our school community is large enough that we are able to offer outstanding opportunities, yet small enough that girls are known personally to teaching and support staff alike. Their individuality, unique potential and special qualities are nurtured and realised.

Around half of pupils at Queenswood are boarders, either boarding full-time or flexibly. Girls enjoy the exceptional facilities in each of the four boarding houses, developing their independence and key skills such as empathy, resilience, curiosity and enthusiasm.

Queenswood is a community where pupils achieve outstanding results, both in and beyond the classroom. The opportunities for growth and development for boarders and day girls are extensive, exciting and fun. Pupils engage enthusiastically in the School’s dynamic curriculum including their well-known specialisms of dance, drama and sports.

Most importantly, ‘Queenswood girls are happy – and happy girls are successful girls.’
