New Headmaster of Handcross Park Prep School

Brighton College are delighted to announce the new Headmaster of Handcross Park School from September 2023 will be Mr Jonathan Besley.

Mr Besley was the standout candidate amongst a very strong field of applications,  impressing the selection panel with his vision, wisdom and understanding of what a truly outstanding education should look like. Currently the Headmaster of Abberley Hall School in Worcestershire, under his leadership the school was recently named Tatler UK Prep School of the Year 2022.

Mr Besley is a graduate of Durham University and holds a PGCE from Cambridge. He began his career as a history teacher at Dulwich Prep, and spent time as Head of Boarding at Westbourne House, so knows Sussex very well. Married with two children, he and his family will be moving to mid-Sussex next summer.

“I feel honoured to have been chosen to lead Handcross Park through its next exciting chapter, and I look forward to working with the whole of the school community to ensure we continue to go from strength to strength over the coming years.

I look forward to meeting all pupils, parents and staff, and continuing its outstanding work in giving children a world-class education.”

Handcross Park School is an award-winning prep school for girls and boys aged 2-13 and offers day and boarding in the heart of the stunning Sussex countryside. It is part of the Brighton College Family of Schools, with the senior school recently named UK School of the Decade by The Sunday Times.
