The Governors of Fairstead House School and Nursery in Newmarket, Suffolk, are delighted to confirm the appointment of Michael Radford as Head.
Mr Radford, who was previously Deputy Head at Fairstead House, has been Acting Head since the beginning of the Summer Term 2021. He has been appointed with immediate effect following an open, competitive recruitment process.
The appointment panel, which included Fairstead House Governors and Senior Leaders at King’s Ely in Cambridgeshire, whose Family of Schools Fairstead House recently joined, is confident that Mr Radford will embrace his new role with energy and wisdom.
Nicholas Longford, Chair of Governors at Fairstead House, said: “Michael has shown outstanding leadership abilities in guiding Fairstead House through the pandemic and merger with King’s Ely. This, combined with his clear vision and enthusiasm for the school’s future developments, make him exactly the right person to take Fairstead House into the next exciting phase of its history.”
News of Mr Radford’s appointment was warmly welcomed by many parents on Fairstead House’s Facebook page. One parent commented: “Congratulations Mr Radford! Our school is in safe hands.” Another parent wrote: “I am so happy for Mr Radford, absolutely well deserved!”
Founded in 1950, Fairstead House is based in the heart of the horseracing town of Newmarket. It is a leading independent nursery, pre-preparatory and preparatory school for boys and girls aged 0-11. Fairstead House consists of two sections – the nursery for children aged 3 months to 4 years and the main school for pupils aged 4-11 years.
