Bruton

Having their head in the clouds’ is not something that you normally say about headteachers, but for Nicky Botterill, Headmistress at Bruton School for Girls, she really did have her head in the clouds when she completed a charity abseil for the SpringBoard Bursary Foundation. Taking time out of the Boarding Schools’ Association (BSA) annual conference in London, Nicky abseiled down the side of the Victoria Park Plaza Hotel in London, in aid of the charity. More than 20 other headteachers across the country also attempted the abseil to raise funds for SpringBoard – a foundation charity which transforms the lives of disadvantaged children through full bursaries at state and independent boarding schools. Nicky Botterill said: ‘SpringBoard opens up the opportunity of a boarding school education to children whose backgrounds or family circumstances mean it wouldn’t normally be an option. Through generous donations and fundraising, we hope that even more children can be ‘SpringBoarded’ into what could be a life-changing path.’
