Anational competition which aims to find the best junior and senior school choirs has attracted participation from more than 45,000 children since it was launched in 2003. This year Harrogate Ladies’ College Chapel Choir reached the televised semi-final stage of the competition in front of an audience of more than 700 people at Nottingham’s Albert Hall. Director of Music Kate Morgan said, ‘Reaching the semi-finals in this competition was a real honour and the girls in the chapel choir are absolutely delighted. It takes an awful lot of hard work, commitment and sheer determination to reach the standard they have and it’s very rewarding to see that recognised. HLC has a long-standing choral tradition but we have never got this far in the competition before.’ Sylvia Brett, Principal of Harrogate Ladies’ College, added, ‘We’re incredibly proud of our chapel choir. Under Kate’s direction they have achieved so much. We were delighted to share their beautiful singing with the rest of the UK!’
