Shebbear College

Shebbear College was delighted to have a visit from award-winning author Tanya Landman. Tanya is acknowledged internationally as a superb writer of books for young people. Her book Buffalo Soldier won the Carnegie Medal in 2015 and a number of her other titles have won awards too. Tanya gave an entertaining and informative talk to pupils in Forms 1, 2 and 3 and this was followed by a question and answer session. There were so many interesting questions from pupils that we almost ran out of time, but the Tanya managed to sign all the books for the long queue of pupils who wanted to buy copies. We were also privileged to have a visit from renowned author Joffre White. Joffre is the author of books including the Frog series and Earthland and he is a UK Patron of Reading. His presentations and workshops on creative writing were both motivating and inspiring. He is passionate about the importance of reading and writing and he highlighted the power of words, both for good and bad.
