st mars bespoke enterprise event

The Enterprise event at St Mary’s Shaftesbury involves all lower sixth girls. They work in teams and this year were given ten days between normal lessons and co-curricular commitments to pull together presentations and well-researched business plans for a new UK restaurant concept. They then presented to a top-flight team of foodie judges in front of a packed hall of supporters. During the project there were workshops and seminars, including a case study on successful restaurant chain Wagamama delivered by a director from the chain’s owner Duke Street Capital, Peter Taylor. He talked the girls through how a restaurant can be taken from a great idea to a global brand. Presenting to the judges, the lower sixth teams sold their ideas before being subjected to tough questions from the panel. The winning team, G@ther, projected a well-researched and brilliantly branded organic eatery combining solid ethics with great food.
